About the Event
Fentanyl is the primary cause of death for Americans aged 18–45. In 2024, the U.S. experienced over 100,000 overdose fatalities, with nearly two-thirds linked to Fentanyl. It's crucial for law enforcement to grasp the issues and risks associated with traditional investigative methods. These challenges and opportunities require new skill sets to adapt to the constantly changing drug culture. This course will equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct an investigation effectively, from the initial 911 call to prosecution and everything in between. Students will learn to write various search warrants, interview witnesses, and support grieving families competently.
This course offers law enforcement personnel a fast-tracked introduction to the ever-changing dynamics of fentanyl-related investigations. Students will analyze crime scene photos to identify overdoses before toxicology reports are available. They will learn that time is critical and will be taught the "Best Practices" for conducting these hazardous investigations safely.…
